Karen Crawford
Managing Attorney and Founder
Karen Crawford has been practicing immigration law since 1993. She earned her law degree from Boston College, where she also received a Masters in Social Work, focusing on Community Organizing, Social Planning, and Policy. She obtained her undergraduate degree in psychology at Harvard University, graduating magna cum laude. She has served as an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Texas Law School Immigration Clinic, and as Interim Executive Director of American Gateways. She has served as chair of the the City of Austin’s Commission on Immigrant Affairs.
Ashley Morris
Senior Attorney
Ashley Morris was admitted to the Texas bar in 2006. She obtained her law degree from the University of Texas at Austin, graduated Order of the Coif. She received her undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City. She clerked for the U.S. Federal District Court, Southern District of Texas from 2006 to 2007. She also worked in education and development in Guatemala, Peru, and Ecuador. She takes pro bono cases for American Gateways, the Bernardo Kohler Center, the CARA pro bono project, and RAICES, and volunteered at clinics organized by Texas Here to Stay, University of Texas Law School, Equal Justice Center, and the University Leadership Initiative. She was honored to fight for families detained in Artesia, New Mexico, and Dilley and Karnes, Texas.
Rodrigo Juárez Jr.
Senior Attorney
Rodrigo Juárez Jr. was admitted to the Texas bar in 2017. He obtained his law degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in Portland, Oregon, and received his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University. He joins us after nearly a decade working in the immigration nonprofit sector, including locally at Refugee Services of Texas and the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI). He is a proud native of the Rio Grande Valley born to immigrant parents from Mexico.

Yasiry Aguilar
Paralegal
Yasiry Aguilar, our paralegal, is a native of Mexico but grew up in Austin. A graduate of McCallum High School and Austin Community College where she received her Associate’s Degree in Business Administration, she comes to us after having been a teacher and assistant director of a daycare center.
Chabela Ramírez
Paralegal
Chabela Ramírez, Paralegal. Chabela is a native of Austin born to parents who emigrated from Cuba. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish Literature with a minor in Creative Writing from The University of Texas at Austin.
Eduardo Aguilar
Office Manager
Eduardo Aguilar, Office Manager. Eduardo is a native of Mexico but grew up in Austin. He earned an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Austin Community College.
Emilia Uranga
Administrative Assistant
Emilia Uranga was born in Chihuahua, MX and immigrated with her family to El Paso, TX where she grew up. Living on the border ignited her interest in immigration law. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from St. Edward’s University in Austin, TX, and is working towards becoming a lawyer, so that she can continue to be of service to people.

Karen Crawford ha trabajado como abogada en asuntos migratorios desde 1993. Obtuvo su licenciatura de ley de Boston College, donde también recibió una maestría en Trabajo Social, enfocado en Organización Comunitaria, Planificación y Política Social. Ashley Morris

Ashley Morris fue admitida al Colegio de Abogados de Texas en el 2006. Obtuvo su título de abogada de la Universidad de Texas en Austin, graduada Orden de la Cofia. Ella recibió su licenciatura de Columbia University en la ciudad de Nueva York. Trabajó como funcionaria para la corte del distrito federal de los E.E.U.U., el distrito sureño de Texas, del 2006 al 2007. También trabajó en educación y desarrollo en Guatemala, Perú y Ecuador. Toma casos pro bono para American Gateways, el Bernardo Kohler Center, el Proyecto pro bono de CARA, y RAICES. Ha sido voluntaria de las clínicas programadas por Texas Here to Stay, University of Texas Law School, Equal Justice Center, y el University Leadership Initiative. Fue honrada de defender familias detenidas en Artesia, Nuevo Mexico, y Dilly y Karnes, Texas.

Chabela Ramírez, Paralegal. Chabela es nativa de Austin nacida de padres emigrados de Cuba. Obtuvo su licenciatura en literatura española con una especialidad secundaria en escritura creativa de la Universidad de Texas en Austin. Actualmente persigue el aprendizaje de un tercer idioma.

Emilia Uranga, nació en Chihuahua, MX y emigró con su familia a El Paso, TX, en donde creció. El vivir en la frontera, hizo que naciera su interés por la ley de inmigracion. Ella tiene una Licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas de la Universidad de St. Edwards en Austin, TX, y está preparándose para ser abogada, para seguir estando al servicio de la gente.
